![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunately for this review, part of the appeal is that we don’t really know what’s going on. It might be the thriller of the year for me. Imagine my surprise when I detected that Erebos wasn’t only well-written but so gripping and believable, I couldn’t put it down. Some recent German thrillers that have made it into translation were anything but well written. Maybe because I wasn’t sure whether it was some sort of fantasy or a realistic thriller? And because I was worried about the writing. I must honestly say, when Lizzy suggested Erebos as her readalong title, I wasn’t thrilled. Exciting, suspenseful and totally unputdownable. But what is virtual and what is reality? How far will Nick go to achieve his goal? And what does Erebos really want?Įnter Erebos at your own risk. As Nick loses friends and all sense of right and wrong in the real world, he gains power and advances further towards his online goal – to become one of the Inner Circle of Erebos. ![]() The game is highly addictive but asks its players to carry out actions in the real world in order to keep playing online, actions which become more and more terrifyingly manipulative. Nick is given a sinister but brilliant computer game called Erebos. ![]() Are you playing the game – or is the game playing you? A highly addictive thriller about power, manipulation and revenge. ![]() ![]() ![]() Robinson, whose new novel Lila has attracted feature reviews in, for example, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, The New York Review of Books, The Wall Street Journal, and many other print media. ![]() Who, some might ask, brought those raw characters into the company of the sophisticated today? Answer: Ms. Moses appears in a Robinsonian essay, one or several in which she expresses unvarnished frustration over how inaccurately we remember the writers and thinkers she admires most-theologians like John Calvin and Jonathan Edwards who are “systematically misrepresented” so often in today’s culture. And it doesn’t matter if they did them 3,000 years ago, you know? ![]() But when people do things that are honorable and fine, it is terrible to see them slandered. He’s a character I put together in my mind, sure. But he also said, ‘Love thy stranger as thyself.’ This is not unimportant. We remember Moses saying, ‘Love thy neighbor as thyself. ![]() ![]() ![]() Zoey discovers she has amazing powers, but along with her powers come bloodlust and an unfortunate ability to Imprint with Heath, who just doesn't know how to take "no" for an answer. I was able to get a picture of how things might have been. ![]() Reading the old bible story written in novel form really brings this old story to life in ways I haven't read it before. I enjoyed Abraham and Sarah by Roberta Kells Dorr it is fiction based on the biblical story. The opinion of this book is my own and I was not paid or compensated for my review. I can not say that Abraham and Sarah accomplished either.ĭisclaimer: This book was provided by Moody Publishing. It makes me want to go back and reread the biblical account. Great biblical fiction takes the little that is said in the bible and makes it come alive without altering it. It is my opinion that a good biblical fiction book does not change ANYTHING the bible says. The bible states that God told Abraham to leave his family but that is not the reason in the book. KellsĬorr took a little too much creative license. I particularly didn't like that Sarai was portrayed in a bratty way. ![]() I can only assume that author Kells Corr did a lot of research about the times and religious practices of Abraham's family because it seems liked endless pages of it. I was immediately drawn to this book because I enjoy biblical fiction and the cover is beautiful, but from the very beginning, my interest plummeted. ![]() ![]() Pippa’s family including her parents, her newly expecting sister and her wife living close to them.
